HRH Prince Philip (born 10 June, 1921) – one of the originals who formed Lord’s Taverners in London, passed on 9 April, 2021
On behalf of all Taverners in Australia, we extend our deepest condolences to Her Majesty The Queen and to the Royal Family on the passing of His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh.
In previous years, Prince Philip was The Twelfth Man for Lord’s Taverners in Australia: HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, KG, KT, OM, GBE, AK. He also visited Australia more than 20 times, including for the opening of Australian Parliament House in 1988.
David Gower, Lord’s Taverners President said of his legacy in the UK: “His Royal Highness has been the Patron and 12th Man of the Lord’s Taverners throughout the 70-year history of our charity and was one of the first 100 members of the charity”.
